Wrinkle Fighting Ingredients

Wrinkle Fighting Ingredients

Here are some of our favourite skincare ingredients that we love to fight and combat wrinkles. At SKNEDIT, we believe prevention is better than cure. So try incorporating some of these ingredients in your skincare routine and your skin will thank you for it in the future!

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as building blocks of protein (collagen, elastin, keratin) that make up our skin. They signal our skin to stimulate more skin-strengthening proteins like collagen and elastin that help keep the skin firm, while also keeping our skin hydrated by increasing its ability to retain moisture.

Some examples of peptides include Matrixyl 3000, Copper Peptides, Argireline.

Try this: Algovital's Brightening & AntiWrinkle Serum Ampoule, S$120. A potent serum that helps brightens overall skin tone and smoothes wrinkles. Formulated with EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) and acetyl hexapeptide (aka argireline) to stimulate collagen synthesis to plump up the skin. It rehydrates, firms, restores the skin's natural barrier and minimizes the appearance of sun damage, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Antioxidants protect the skin by fighting free radicals that come from UV rays and environmental pollution. They have anti-inflammatory properties, allowing for our skin to repair itself and prevent early signs of aging.

Some examples of popular antioxidants include Retinoids (Vitamin A), Vitamin C, and Niacinamide (Vitamin B3).

Try this: SKIN&LAB's Vitamin C Brightening Serum, S$38. A potent yet lightweight brightening serum with 15 vitamin blends concentrated with a Vitamin C derivative to help brighten and even out skin tone. It is also formulated with vitamin E oil capsules to deliver moisture to the skin.

Retinoid is an umbrella term for all Vitamin A derived compounds. They help increase cell turnover by reducing skin texture, reduces fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen and elastin production, and are tyrosinase inhibitors that help prevent hyperpigmentation.

Some examples of over-the-counter retinoids include Retinol, Retinal, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (Granactive Retinoid).

Try this: CeraVe's Skin Renewing Retinol Serum, S$32. A serum formulated with encapsulated retinol to help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture, and radiance. It is formulated with three essential ceramides to help restore the skin’s barrier, along with niacinamide to strengthen it. It also contains skin-replenishing, moisturizing ingredients like glycerin and shea butter for added hydration.

Technically not an ingredient per se, but there's no better way to prevent aging than sunscreen. Regardless if you like inorganic (physical/mineral) sunscreens or organic (chemical) sunscreens, the best sunscreen is the one that you will enjoy using every single day!
